It’s no secret that we love Japanese-American singer-songwriter AI here at The Wondercores! Her songs are powerful and so is her voice. 🙂 AI was born in Los Angeles and spent her childhood in Japan and her teens in the US. Fun fact: she started off as a dancer, and even appeared in Janet Jackson’s Go Deep music video in 1998! She debuted as a musician in Japan in 2000. (Also, she just had a baby girl! Congratulations AI!!)

How JPop Lyrics Can Improve your Japanese Reading

My Japanese language journey is irrevocably intertwined with Japanese pop music (colloquially referred to by those in the know as JPop). The main reason I wanted to learn Japanese in the first place, was so I could sing along to my favourite opening and closing themes from the animes I used to watch. Not only is (most) JPop just plain awesome, it also provides a way for you to study the language in a relaxed, informal setting.
